What are the top attractions to visit in Broken Bow?
1. Visit Beavers Bend State Park
Beavers Bend State Park is one of the main draws for visitors coming to the Broken Bow area.
The park has a variety of trails for all skill levels. Our favorite is the Friends Trail Loop, which offers gorgeous views of the Lower Mountain Fork River. You can take the kids for a train ride through the forest at the Beavers Bend Depot and Trail Rides. They also offer horseback riding for kids 3 and up.

Want to cool off with some water activities? Swimming and paddleboarding are super popular along the shores of Broken Bow Lake during the warmer months. Kayak or canoe rentals are available during the summer.
Don’t miss the Beavers Bend State Park Forest Heritage Center Museum. Come here if you want to learn about the natural history of the area, but also to see some absolutely beautiful and unique art.
The park is surrounded by the beautiful Ouachita National Forest, offering more than 3,400 acres of space and no shortage of stunning wildlife and beautiful views. If you’re looking for affordable cabins and campsites, the Beavers Bend area has tons of options.
2. Go Ziplining
My family loves ziplining, and Rugaru Adventures inside Beavers Bend State Park is the place to go for thrill seekers in Broken Bow. They offer 6 lines covering more than half a mile, so you can soar above the ground at impressive speeds while enjoying the lake and forest!
Tours last 90 minutes to 2 hours and trained and certified guides accompany you on your journey. It’s $85 per person, and you will need to reserve your zip line tour time online in advance. Anyone 4 years and up can ride, but you have to have a waiver signed by a parent if you’re under 18.
Don’t want the fun to end? Rugaru also offers Swincar off-roading tours!
3. Fly Fishing on the Lower Mountain Fork River
Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to fly fishing, take the opportunity to go fly fishing on the Lower Mountain Fork River.
With a constant flow of cool water, this portion of the river is home to some of the best trout fishing in the region. You can reel in both brown and rainbow trout all year long, making it a rare gem for Oklahoma, which isn’t typically known for fly fishing! The river also offers opportunities to catch largemouth bass and smallmouth bass.

Even if the fish aren’t biting, the natural beauty of the Mountain Fork River makes it worth the trip. Rapids, waterfalls, and unique rock formations create an amazing backdrop.
For the best place to cast your line, you have 12 miles of river to choose from. The first 5 miles of the river are inside Beaver Bend State Park and receive a lot of boating traffic. For a quieter experience, head further south on Mountain Fork River or try one of its many tributaries.
4. Horseback Riding
Another great way to explore the great outdoors in Broken Bow, Oklahoma is on horseback. You can tour the woodlands, visit Mountain Fork River, and get up close with nature on your equestrian adventure!
There are multiple options for booking a horseback riding tour in the area, but I suggest either Riverman Trail Rides or Beavers Bend Depot & Trail Rides.
Riverman Trail Rides offer 1- and 2-hour rides for all ages, as well as couple rides. Beavers Bend offers pony rides at the stables and hour-long trail rides every day during the summer (and on the weekends the rest of the year).
